Cocopeat container loading
How a container is loaded decides how long it takes to unload, what condition the material arrives in, and how much of it fits. This guide covers the two configurations, what decides between them, and what we need from you to plan it.

Two configurations
- Palletised
- Material is stacked on pallets, wrapped and strapped. Unloading is quick if you have a forklift and a dock. Pallets occupy space that could otherwise hold material.
- Floor loaded
- Material is stacked directly into the container. More material fits, and unloading is done by hand or with equipment that can reach into the container. It takes longer.
Neither is better in general. The right answer depends entirely on what is waiting at the destination.
What decides it
- Whether your unloading point has a dock and a forklift.
- How much labour you have available, and what an extra unloading day costs you.
- Whether the pallets themselves are wanted at the destination, or become waste.
- Whether the material moves on again immediately or goes into storage.
- Any destination requirement that applies to wood packaging, which is set by the authority in the importing country.
What we need from you to plan it
- The destination port and the final delivery point.
- Whether you are unloading at a dock or at ground level.
- Whether pallets are wanted, and if so any specification they must meet.
- The format and preparation you are ordering, because blocks and bagged material stack differently.
- Any handling constraint at your end that we should design around.
Why no quantity per container is published
Quantity per container follows from the format, the pallet pattern, the wrapping and the configuration agreed for your order. A figure published on a website ahead of those decisions is a guess presented as a fact, and a buyer who plans around it can find themselves short.
Request the current loading configuration during quotation and it will be confirmed against what is actually being offered to you.
On arrival
- Inspect and record condition promptly rather than after the material has been moved into storage.
- Photograph the load before it is broken down if condition is going to be raised at all.
- Allow floor space for hydration if you have ordered compressed blocks.
